TransLash is looking for a reliable and collaborative Social Media Manager to support shaping and implementing our strategy for storytelling and audience development on different platforms. The Social Media Manager will report to the Interim Director of Digital Media & Social.

The candidate must have experience running social channels for news organizations and should come prepared to share and develop ideas for new ways to effectively engage TransLash Media’s audiences on Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, X/Twitter, and emerging platforms.

Your Role

  • Provide support to our Interim Director of Digital/Social Media on day-to-day social media management. This includes helping the team implement our brand identity across social channels; supporting the implementation of visual design strategies; and providing support on various tasks as needed.
  • In concert with brand guidelines and voice, write social media copy; create graphics, videos, memes, etc.; maintain social media calendar and posting schedule; schedule and publish approved content on social media channels.
  • Ensure social media content aligns with channel objectives and strategies, brand voice and tone, and social media best practices.
  • Collect and analyze social media data to create reports on key metrics such as engagement, reach, and conversions, and use insights to inform content strategy and optimize social media performance.
  • Scan all podcast distribution channels and TransLash social accounts every week for timely listener reviews, and compile documentation to be repurposed for promotional social graphics and funder reporting;
  • Check TransLash email accounts daily and coordinate responses/escalate inquiries with appropriate team members within 48 hrs of each correspondence;
  • Scan TransLash social channels daily and elevate/respond to podcast series-specific feedback from followers;
  • Supporting outreach to promote the TransLash zine in multiple relevant online communities, related call-for-submission campaigns, and providing misc. content and administrative support.
