Websites that Pay $200 to $400 Per Article for Writers

Undoubtedly, there are difficulties with being a freelance writer. You need to locate the ideal publication, craft a compelling pitch, and cross your fingers that the rate is high enough to cover the costs. The list continues.

I’m here to provide you with a pitching guide in order to make that process simpler for you.

Here are four publications that I’ve worked with successfully as a writer, along with all the pertinent details about each. If you have any questions, let me know!

Please refrain from mentioning this information or using my name in your pitch. Sharing those details won’t help because they are my experiences and might not be the same for you.

1. HuffPost Wellness

things they search for

The focus of HuffPost Wellness is on relatable service journalism—that is, articles that offer practical guidance based on facts and empathy. They enjoy talking about COVID, body image, mental health, self-care, and medical issues.

Guidelines

At the bottom of the pitching page are the rules.

Moving forward

You can email wellness@huffpost.com with your pitch once it is complete.

Rate

For roughly 800-1100 words, the new standard rate is $400, paid directly to your bank account.

2. Diem

things they search for

A publication by and for women and nonbinary individuals is called Diem. They are looking for articles with experts, explainers that provoke thought on a subject, and essays that react to the news.

Building an equitable internet, who has power in web3, how financial power gives you control, female leadership, and the intersection of sex and power are the subjects they are currently looking for.

Guidelines

Diem’s pitching guidelines page is very helpful.

Moving forward

After following the instructions, you can email Taylor and Emma at askdiem.com (taylor@askdiem.com) with your pitch.

Rate

The cost is $200 via PayPal for roughly 700 words. Reminder: PayPal might charge you!

3. Giddy

things they search for

Giddy, also known as www.getmegiddy.com, is the biggest sexual health platform in the world. The editors are open to submissions for articles on various topics, including culture, lifestyle, sexual health, mental health, and more.

Guidelines

Giddy doesn’t have a guidelines page, but you can learn more about what they like by reading their About page and already-published articles.

Rate

I typically pay $300, but I’ve heard that rates can range from $200 to $400. It’s transferred directly to your bank account. The required word count is typically somewhere between 700 and 1100.

4. The Good Trade

things they search for

The inclusive publication The Good Trade promotes care for oneself, others, and the environment. They accept proposals for brand recommendations, considerate essays, and thoroughly researched articles.

Guidelines

Visit the About page and the editorial Standards and guidelines page. The latter is near the bottom and includes pitching information.

Rate

For 800-1000 words, there is a $200 fee payable through PayPal.
