For media outlets that have the ability to charge readers without subscriptions, Elon Musk proposes to impose a per-article read fee.
Elon Musk recently declared that Twitter would enable media publishers to instantly charge customers on a per-article basis. He referred to it as a victory for the general population and media outlets.
The function, which will go live in May, would let customers who haven’t subscribed to the service on a monthly basis “pay a higher per article price for when they want to read an occasional article.”
Just this past Friday, Musk revealed that Twitter would take a 10% cut of all subscription fees after the first year, which would cover lengthy text and lengthy video.
Since the social media company’s advertising revenue fell last year, the CEO of Twitter has been working to increase revenue with new tactics. According to The Guardian, the company’s staff has decreased drastically from 7,500 to 1,500.
Twitter has also received repeated warnings about keeping an eye on digital platforms, with violations subject to fines of up to 6% of global turnover and even service suspension.
