Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has announced the launch of a new option called “Lock Specific Chats” on WhatsApp in an effort to prioritize user privacy even more. By enabling users to password-protect their chats, this eagerly awaited update promises to make interactions on the well-liked messaging app even more private.
The “Lock Specific Chats” feature offers users the ability to secure their conversations within a password-protected folder, ensuring that only authorized individuals can access them.
With this functionality enabled, WhatsApp users can now feel more secure and private knowing that their locked chats are protected from prying eyes.
The fact that alerts for restricted chats no longer show the sender’s name or message content is one of the feature’s main advantages. Users will instead get discrete notifications letting them know when a locked message has been received, protecting the privacy of their chats.
With the help of this feature, users are better able to maintain the privacy of critical information and have greater control over their messaging experience.
Users only need to long-press on the selected conversation, choose the “Lock Chat” option, and enter a special password to lock a particular chat. Every time someone tries to enter the closed chat, they will be asked for this password, adding another degree of security against unauthorized access.
Additionally, the addition of locked chats is consistent with WhatsApp’s dedication to end-to-end encryption, which guarantees that only the intended receivers may view the messages. The platform’s overall security of discussions is improved by this encryption and the new feature.
