Imran Khan, the leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI), set a new record on Wednesday when speaking live on Twitter Space in advance of his party’s rally in Lahore.
Twitter Space, a relatively recent addition to the social media platform, enables real-time chats and uninhibited discourse. Over 446,000 viewers tuned in from all over the world to participate in the former premier’s session. Dr. Arslan Khan and Jibran Ilyas organized and hosted the session, which took place on Wednesday at 10 p.m. local time.
An estimated 500,000 users communicated with Imran Khan, and on average, 165,000 users were listening at any given time. K-POP Lyrical Space previously held the record with almost 44,000 listens.
Since Prime Minister Imran Khan was ousted by a vote of no-confidence in the National Assembly, his party has popularised the hashtag “Imported Hakumat Na-Manzoor,” which has become the biggest trend in Pakistan’s social media history as well as created innovative campaigns.
Pakistan was congratulated for breaking the record by the ex-PM’s session on PTI’s official account.
