New Delhi: According to the police, an Indian student who had met the woman in the club last year while intoxicated and semi-conscious has been detained in the UK.
Preet Vikal, 20, allegedly carried the “intoxicated” woman to his flat in Cardiff, UK, where he raped her in June of last year.
Preet and the woman had each traveled to Cardiff with a different group of friends for a night out before they ran into one another.
“The victim had consumed excessive amounts of alcohol and was, by the end of the evening, obviously hopelessly drunk. When she left the club, Preet Vikal was there. The two conversed and parted ways with their respective groups “authorities said.
She was seen walking but was seen heavily leaning on Preet Vikal as they passed a bar.
“For raping a woman in a Cardiff dorm, a man was sentenced to prison. Preet Vikal was seen on surveillance footage leaving the city centre carrying the victim first across his shoulders and then in his arms “Cardiff South Wales Police tweeted.
“Attacks by strangers like these are incredibly uncommon in Cardiff, but Preet Vikal was a dangerous person. He exploited a young woman who was intoxicated and defenceless and got lost without her friends “In yet another tweet, they said.
According to reports, Preet photographed the woman after bringing her home and sent a “trophy photograph” of her to his friends.
The woman bravely gave officers a description of what occurred. As a result of his actions, she said she was shaken, couldn’t sleep, and felt guilty, according to police.
Police were able to identify Preet Vikal with the aid of security camera footage and a conversation with the woman on Instagram.
